Hello everyone,

I had a wonderful day today. I am in the process of starting a disablity support group that will meet weekly. I also volunteered at a local gym to work with people with disabilities. YAY!
I went to my first political campaign. It was so cool to see that people just like me can make a difference in their community! You don't have to know everything. You just have to care enough to do something. Even something small. I found several leaders who would like to be involved with helping people with disabilities. I will be helping Gina G. run for county legislator. It turns out that she is grateful for what ever help I can contribute. I look forward to helping Gina win the vote on November 6th.

My son will be able to start hippo therapy. This is horseback riding to help children build confidence and learn how to better control their bodies. He really enjoyed riding the horses. I was surprised because he is usually scared of animals. We still struggle with his fear of bugs. But we are trying to overcome his fear. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it! His sensory system is off, he sees and feels differently.
I will look up some info online and write what I found.
Have a good one.
So, I have spent hours contacting local politians and several county departments. I have come out with some great advice and now have a better idea where I need to head to now to finish my grant for playground equipment for disabled children. I am getting excited. I figure next time I write a grant it will be easier because I will already know what to do.
I volunteered to help a local woman run for legislator. It is nice to have a healthy mix of men and women leaders in our community. We all have different views and skills to add!
I think that hope starts when we learn to put aside our differences and just accept each other as a person. We are all part of the human race!

Sending you a hug to get through the day!!!
I have been checking the local parks to see what they have to offer. Wish I had air conditioning... So far only one playground offers wheel chair accessable swings. The park is not in my county it is almost 30 minutes away. It will be so nice to offer children someplace to play with other children their age! Wish me luck. :)

Community- To bond together as a family and share responsiblities as one. Well, This is my goal for my community. I think if we can unite as one on our concerns we could do so much more. Love is contagious! Spread the gift that gives hope!
I am very excited about my classes I will be taking next fall. I am taking an HMS 250 class (Human Services) that helps students learn about the workings with not for profit organizations. I will also be writing a grant in this class to provide playground equipment for disabled children to our community. I am very excited to have a chance to work with the Parks and Recreation Commistioner to make this grant! I am also taking a class for political science that lets students work with fifth graders. We will work with politians to help the fifth grade students reach their goals in helping their community!
I also have political science class with one of my favorite professors next semester!!!
I am taking a class for image theory in film, photography and television, this just sounded cool! I can't wait for school to begin. It will bring great joy to learn how to better help those in need!!!
When I was growing up I was always embarrased of my learning disablity! Having a successful college experience is so uplifting. People with disablities can dream large! If we see ourselves as a success we will be a success! It is this hope that I want to carry to everyone I meet! Disabled people have a big role in our community. We have humility and a over abundant ablity to be resistant. We can offer wisdom and patience that others lack. If you feel the same way please share your thoughts! Thank you for reading my post!

My son has sensory issues. It seems that he is passed from one system to another. He requires OT and PT and sensory therapy twice a week. Next fall he starts kindergarden. Because he is very smart the schools don't feel that he will have any problems. But he exhibits autistic atributes and I would like him to get throughly examined. After hours of phone calls I am on track to a hopeful path. I am seeking help from a Childrens Disablity Group. It can be very frustrating as a parent when those who are here to help act as though you are just an over protective parent who worries too much. Success for disabled children start at home, but we need the schools to help back us up! Any comments???

Reflections play at waters edge.

Casting hues upon springs ledge.

A slight cast of color upon a tree.

Sings it's echoes upon the sea.

Please join me on my journey as I reach out as an advocate for disabled individuals and their loved ones. I believe that we can change our world if we truly believe in ourselves.
I am a college student at Broome Community College. I started college with the hopes of being a historian. As I studied our past I learned of the trials that plagued minorites all over the globe. Time and again people chose to stand up to their oppressors and history was forever changed by their glorious effects.
Many rights have been given on the backs and lives of those who fought before us. Let us not grow complacent in the arms of what comfort we have. People still need to be liberated and freed from the bonds that hold them.
Please join me as I stand up for the rights and well being for the disabled. Our education system, communities and families can reap many rewards when we stand united.
